HACP Physical Environment (PE)

Have you ever wanted to improve or just confirm your knowledge regarding the requirements related to the physical environment? CIHQ has developed a certification program for just this purpose. The HACP-PE certification demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of regulations addressing the physical environment in acute care hospitals.
Program content addresses key regulations and national standards in Safety/Security, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Emergency Power, Life Safety/Fire Safety, Healthcare Facilities Code, Utilities and Medical Equipment.
Some of the specific topics included in the study guide and examination:
- Workplace Violence
- OSHA Hazard Communication
- Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Fire Safety
- Life Safety Code requirements
- Healthcare Facilities Code requirements
- Laser Safety
- Electrical Safety
While the certification was designed for individuals who are responsible for the physical environment, anyone can apply for the certification. Recertification is every 2 years. This can be achieved by either retaking another exam or by participating in continuing education units during the 2-year time period.
